"A Letter To David" Premiered At The Berlin Film Festival

A Letter To David
The Berlin film festival premiered a documentary about an Israeli hostage held by Hamas last 14 February as it seeks to move on from controversy over its stance on Gaza at last year's edition.

"A Letter to David" by Israeli filmmaker Tom Shoval is a tribute to David Cunio, who was taken by Palestinian militant group Hamas from the Nir Oz kibbutz on 7 October 2023, and is still being held hostage in Gaza.

The film has grossed over 7 billion yuan (approximately US$ 1.1 billion) in China within just 11 days of its release on 29 January 2025 — the first day of the Lunar New Year. This milestone cements "Ne Zha 2" as the highest-grossing film in Chinese history and marks a significant moment for the country’s rapidly growing film industry.

Why was "The Acolyte" Season 2 got cancelled? That's is the question that has been deprived of a direct answer. It should be clear by now that the show has an awful script, bad story, cringy lines and very expensive to make. All of this combined resulted in small viewership. It is plain and simple.

Nobody really believes that some of the actors involved with the show were surprised by this development. Any actor who is worth their craft should know by now that the show is a disappointment. They should not be surprised anymore.

Actress Sydney Sweeney has unwittingly found herself at the center of news earlier this year when veteran Hollywood producer Carol Baum said Sweeney is "not pretty" and "can’t act" — and then slammed Sweeney’s hit rom-com "Anyone but You" as "unwatchable." These statements are expected to generate a torid response and it did.

A representative for the actor fired back at Baum immediately after that, slamming the producer for having the audacity to "attack another woman." Recently, Sweeney herself addressed the incident in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

The Film "Red Dawn" Marked Its 40th Anniversary

The year 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the iconic Cold War thriller "Red Dawn." This was a film by a Hollywood conservative that showcased patriotism, a love for the American military and warned of the dangers of gun control. Yet, it also taught the man behind the movie a deep lesson about the mentality of liberal Hollywood.

The question now, in light of President Donald Ttrump's return to the White Huse, can anybody make another movie very similar to the "Red Dawn"? Hollywood will probably shun it.

Several Literary Works Will Be Made Public Staring 1 January 2025

From "A Farewell to Arms" to the cartoon character Popeye the Sailor, thousands of artistic works will enter the public domain in the United States on 1 January 2025. US copyright law expires after 95 years for books, films and other works of art, while sound recordings from 1924 will also be copyright-free.

By entering the public domain, the pieces can now be copied, shared, reproduced or adapted by anyone without paying the rights owner.

Olivia Hussey, who starred as a teenage Juliet in Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 film "Romeo and Juliet," garnering her a Golden Globe, died last 27 December at age 73, her family announced.

"Olivia was a remarkable person whose warmth, wisdom, and pure kindness touched the lives of all who knew her," her family said in a statement posted to her Instagram account.

YouTube Working With Actors Monetize Their AI Image

YouTube is reportedly working with one of the world's largest talent agencies, CAA, to help its high-profile actors and athletes monitor their AI likenesses.

"Through this collaboration, several of the world’s most influential figures will have access to early-stage technology designed to identify and manage AI-generated content that features their likeness, including their face, on YouTube at scale," YouTube wrote on its official blog.
