Changan Hybrid EV Offers More Options

Changan Hybrid
Chinese carmaker Changan has just officially introduced its latest Nevo A06 sedan, set to arrive in both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) versions.

The standout feature of the Nevo A06 is its advanced 6C battery, which the company claims can recharge at an astonishing rate of up to 0.62 miles per second, offering one of the fastest charging experiences in its class. Built on Changan’s SDA (Super DNA) platform, the Nevo A06 is positioned as a medium-to-large sedan, combining spaciousness with modern electric vehicle technology.

The model is expected to hit the market later this year, promising a competitive option for those seeking both performance and versatility in the EV segment.

The Changan’s Nevo A06 offers versatile powertrain options for different driving needs. The BEV variant comes in high- and low-power versions, with the high-power model delivering 282 hp (210 kW) and the low-power model producing 161 hp (120 kW). Buyers can choose from three lithium iron phosphate battery packs – 42.12 kWh, 51.48 kWh, and 63.18 kWh – offering estimated ranges of 261 miles, 317 miles, and 391 miles under CLTC conditions.

The high-power BEV accelerates from 0 to 37 mph (0–60 km/h) in six seconds and features an 800V high-voltage SiC platform.

The EREV variant pairs a 1.5L naturally aspirated 97 hp (72 kW) engine as a range extender with a 120 kW motor and a 28.39 kWh battery, providing a WLTC pure-electric range of 112 miles (180 km), making it a practical option for longer trips. At the 6C ultra-fast charging rate, the battery can be recharged from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 9 minutes, and from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes.

Additionally, the Nevo A06’s roof houses a lidar system, complemented by three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 11 cameras, enabling level 2 advanced driving assistance features.

Changan’s Nevo line represents the brand’s entry-level electric vehicle range, launched in 2023. The initial lineup includes the A05 and A06 compact sedans, as well as the A07 midsize sedan. The A06 is essentially a restyled Changan UNI-V, with updated front and rear designs, while the A05 is a rebadged Changan Yida featuring similar styling updates.

In a sign of growing momentum, last year Changan announced that its monthly new energy vehicle (NEV) sales exceeded 100,000 units in November 2024, marking the first time the company has achieved this milestone.
