California's Plan To Ban Classic Car Was Slammed

Classic Mustang
The plan to ban a classic car ban in California which officials have been mulling over for a while was recently slammed by a California member of the US House of Representatives on the floor.

Representative Doug LaMalfa delivered a fiery speech where he declared the State of California can "pry my '68 Mustang gear shift out of my cold, dead fingers."

Representative LaMalfa went off on the "radical green agenda" saying it isn’t about saving the environment but instead is all about controlling the populace. As pointed out by The Auto Wire, the ban targets vehicles which aren’t driven often and thus produce little pollution, while turning a blind eye to far more prolific sources.

After all, nobody is talking about banning Taylor Swift or other celebrities from their short private jet trips to skip traffic in California. There’s no talk of restricting the use of yachts and super yachts which churn out enormous amounts of emissions.

As the US Congressman points out, these classic cars are enjoyed by many, including politicians who ride in them during parades so they appear like an all-American candidate.

But there are those who harbor an odd hatred of classic cars. They’re literally physical links to the past, embodying the ideals and technological achievements from past decades. Through them we and future generations can learn what life was like back in the day, what people valued, how they lived and recreated, and so much more.
