Gigi Hadid Apologizes for AMA Unfunny Antics

Gigi Hadid
After feeling the enormous outrage from her critics when she tried to impersonate Melania Trump at the American Music Awards show, Gigi Hadid said: She was just joking.

But she also apologized "to anyone that I offended."

The supermodel poked fun at the future first lady during her opening monologue, referencing Melania Trump’s Republican National Convention speech in July that reflected portions Michelle Obama‘s 2008 convention speech.

After facing backlash on social media, Hadid tweeted a screenshot of a handwritten letter 21 November.

"I was honored to host the AMA's last night and to work with some of the most respected writers in the business," Hadid, 21, wrote. "I removed or changed anything in the script that I felt took the joke too far, and whether or not you choose to see it, what remained was done in good humor and with no bad intent."
