Aston Martin's Very Expensive Vulcan Supercar

Vulcan Supercar
Luxury automaker Aston Martin has released new photos of its stunning Vulcan supercar, which was announced earlier this year. The track-only vehicle is almost entirely constructed of carbon fiber and packs a whopping 800-horsepower V12 engine so powerful owners are offered an "extensive and detailed program of intensive track driver training," Wired reported back in February 2015.

Car companies have been looking toward carbon fiber for years to increase fuel efficiency. The material is about 10 times stronger and 75 percent lighter than steel, but it's far more expensive and has been reserved for luxury and sports cars, according to Bloomberg.

Aston Martin seems to have factored the expense into the price. The Vulcan retails for a cool US$ 2.3 million (ahem, before taxes), but good luck getting your hands on one. The car will be even more exclusive than the limited-edition One-77, and only 24 will be built.

"A sports car for true sports car lovers, I believe the Aston Martin Vulcan -- and the unique ownership programme that sits behind it - sets a whole new standard in the ultra-high luxury supercar class," CEO Andy Palmer said in a press release.
