Brazilian Wax In Front Of Class Is No Big Deal For One Student

Brazilian Wax
There are not a lot of people who would be brave enough to get a Brazilian wax in front of their classmates, but for 19-year-old Nova, it's no big deal. Nova, who is a cosmetology student at the Paul Mitchell School in Louisville, Ky., didn't think much about volunteering for the in-class demonstration of the waxing technique, which involves removing all of the hair from the pubic area.

"In this school, this is completely normal," she tells PEOPLE. "I’m training to be a licensed esthetician specializing in facials, waxing and and lashes."

During the demo, Nova captured a video of her classmates' horrified reactions, and on 10 October, shared the clip to Instagram, where it went viral.

"Honestly, it was a show," Nova says of the video. In it, her fellow students can be seen gasping, covering their faces and cringing.

Some of the commenters were equally shocked.

"Everyone staring at my kitty would send me into orbit," one wrote under the post.

"Idk how they get the confidence to drop their pants in front of the classmates i would be STRESSING in the shower night prior if i was the example😭😭," said another.

A third shared, "Every time i see them i would remember they’ve seen my cooter cat."

One of the students in the video stays noticeably calm, which viewers couldn't resist pointing out.

"The girl in the cookies shirt is gonna be the best of the class 😂," one wrote, referring to the T-shirt worn by the student.

Another said, "I would only get waxed by the girl in the cookie tshirt. she’s here for technique."

Nova was equally unfazed by the experience.

"Honestly, I was totally chill," she tells PEOPLE. "Waxing isn’t painful for me—I literally do my own Brazilians at home—so watching everyone else panic was hilarious. I even filmed their reactions because, let’s be real, their faces were priceless: shocked, scared, confused … all the emotions."

She added: "These girls are my family now, so now nothing is awkward."
