Jordan Brent Petersen, who is also known as JBP, is taking the Twitter universe by storm. The Canadian clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of Toronto is now author of more than 90 peer-reviewed articles on clinical psychology, social psychology, and personality theory.
However, Peterson is better known because of his popular conservative views which include simple explanation of biology, transphobia, sexism, and morality. His outspoken views on Marxism, postmodernism, and the use of gendered pronouns in the classroom have provoked the ire of many social justice warriors across Canada.
Petersen's ideas have been labelled "hate speech" by many who do not share his views. Meanwhile, activists’ efforts to silence Peterson, or to disrupt his on-campus talks – by incessant heckling, the use of bull horns and air sirens, etc. – are worrisome and reprehensible.
As of January 2018, Peterson had over 723 thousand subscribers and 38 million views on YouTube, 407 thousand followers on Twitter, 160 thousand likes on Facebook, and over 7,500 donors on Patreon (generating an estimated US$ 81,900 per month or US$ 982,800 per year gross).
