Actress Hilary Swank was arguably the most famous guest at the Melbourne Cup this year and was flown in for the occasion, but there are very few photos of the Hollywood star at the event.
Why? According to The Daily Telegraph, the actress’ outfit choice caused something of a stir.
Swank donned an ensemble from Australian department store David Jones for the occasion, which is rumoured to have ruffled a few feathers as rival company Myer sponsored the event.
The Australian newspaper reports that racing officials vetoed a photograph of Swank holding the Melbourne Cup because of she was dressed in a backless jumpsuit from designer brand Christopher Esber – a label that’s stocked in David Jones and not Myer.
