Spidey #1 is Coming!

Spidey
Everyone just can't get over Peter Parker even if their first taste of the original Spider-Man in the Marvel universe will not happen until next year. But thanks to All-New All-Different Marvel, readers can follow their favorite webslinger in a new ongoing that promises a "classic and iconic" take on the character.

Spidey #1, the new ongoing series written by Robbie Thompson (TV’s Supernatural, Silk) with art by Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy), will detail the adventures of a teenaged Peter Parker.

"Everyone remembers their FIRST Spider-Man comic," Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said in a statement. "Spidey aims to be perfect as someone’s first Spider-Man comic, or their one thousandth. We’re not looking to re-tell stories here. What Robbie [Thompson] and Nick [Bradshaw] have put together is an exciting new take on Spider-Man at his arguably most iconic incarnation, and will feel fresh to new and old fans alike."

According to Marvel, Spidey #1 will return Peter to high school, chronicling his life and adventures during this period with both familiar and new characters. If returning Peter to a teenage state sounds familiar, it should — when the character appears in the Marvel films, everyone will be looking at a much younger Spidey than in previous films.

"Out of the 700+ issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker was only in high school for thirty issues! Stan and Steve covered a lot, but there’s a lot of the high school and early super hero experience still on the table," added Spider-Man Editor Nick Lowe.

This is a good business move by Marvel considering that the Miles Morales version is not selling well. Spidey #1 will be available this fall.
